An article on Jessica Miriam Reeves perhaps my favorite female vampire from the VC (Lestat being the male, you know before he went loco-coco in MtD and went downhill faster than someone wearing rollerskates!) I would've loved if Jesse and/or Gabrielle had gotten their own books (beyond TVL and QotD)

Jesse Miriam Reeves was born to greatness, though she did not realise it for a large portion of her life. She was also born under a bad sign, and the beginnings of her life do not hint at the momentous path her life would follow later. Her mother was killed in an accident which should have taken her life as well, but by a miracle she was discovered by the wreckage and taken away, having been aborted from the womb of her seven months pregnant mother. Little did she know it at the time, but her arrival at the hospital was met two weeks later with that of an immensely powerful creature, one of the most powerful in a world that contained far more power than she could ever imagine. Maharet gave the child a name and sent her to live with distant relatives, Matthew and Maria Godwin.

Oh yeah and know this. Ever since (around 1994) I opened my first VC and read it (it was QOTD since I could not find IwtV) I've had a soft spot for Lestat/Jesse as a couple though it never happened in the books. Thats in part, the reason I like the movie so much I think(I read QOTD just before I saw IwtV for the first time in a Theater).

As I was reading QotD for the first time and I stumbled across the Jesse story-line, she,(next to Daniel) became my favorite character in the book (other than the blond one himself heh) I found myself hoping as she was becoming more and more obsessed about finding out the history of Lestat. I silently began to root her on on her quest to see Lestat for herself) Even after she had her neck broken by a random vampire. I expected just a little more than that I guess but still thats where my hopes for Lestat/Jesse were born. Read it and weep, haha.

Sorry about the rambling. I love to babble. Keep in mind I've liked this pairing since I was mmm 15 or 16 long before I know of slash or of the possible Lestat/Louis references in the first book, seeing as once again QotD was the first one I ever read, I just thought somehow all through the book they'd meet for some reason, but I was a wee bit disappointed when they didn't (until the concert and beyond) but I loved the whole story for it's richness.
