A decade or so ago, like almost anyone else I was into beanie babies (and I still have most of my collection intact). My mom lamented loudly and often and how much I spent on my "habit" (when in compared to my brothers "habits" was tame) and so when I was scouting out of of the local stores that carried BB I saw that a small selection of "Meanies" were for sale. Now ever since I heard that there was going to be a Star Wars parody set of them I came even more interested in them that I had before. So when I saw a few Meanies lining the shelves, I glanced them over in hopes of of finding any from the "Farce Wars" line but alas, no luck.
What I did find though was more interesting (imo) in the long run. I found a jack o'lantern-shaped Meanie. I though it was rather odd to have them out still as it was long past Halloween (very late '99 or early 2000). Curious I picked it up and the first thing that caught my eye (other than the red eye patch) was the tag it read "Hallow Meanies Special Edition '99".
Special edition? This piqued (don't you hate it when someone misspells that as peaked or peeked?) my curiosity even further and I open the tag that revealed not only a poem but a label that marked this Meanie as #0923 of #1,250 of a very limited edition! I thought to myself someone had accidentally packed this particular Meanie in with the others by accident (to this very day I'm still not sure!). I think I had a mind to get this or another Meanie but in the long run I bought Pirate Jack.

This is the story of Pirate Jack.

After going through a few of my Beanie Babies today for old times sake I found Pirate Jack and on a whim, run him through the internet. See at the time I first bought him I really didn't think too much about looking him up on the internet. Had I done so I wouldn't been flabbergasted to find that this wonderful Meanie, at the time, could be found on eBay in the neighborhood of $420! but as I googled more I saw that today it was selling for $200
That's rather good I think. Especially seeing as BBs aren't in demand as they once were, even less so for Meanies.
But after doing a little research I have come to the quite possible conclusion that I own one of the most rare Meanies ever!
