Today was the second day I've dreaded (after Thanksgiving) this week. For the most part, this morning was a snore (as predicted) but then I was invited by my Aunt to come with them to Jonesboro to walk around (Hey no need to ask me twice, but hey she did, because I had to think about it for a few). I knew with that and going to Aunt B²'s later for dinner.
Had a better time than I ever thought I would (though dinner was another snore) Almost immediately Uncle J headed towards the stock, and like a big kid, he tried to open then...even finding they were locked he tried to stick his head and hands into to holes (OMG My Unc the Goofball!)The first thing we really did was to go to an art gallery with all sorts of painted nature scene from real life (even one from the Grand Canyon, beautiful!) Also we scouted around the cabin where then-lawyer Andrew Jackson stayed during his brief year (or so) in Jonesborough. While we were there we dropped by the International Storytelling Center building (where, oddly enough, at least I didn't know about it) was some sort of crafts show, maybe its a regular feature or what not, but I enjoyed it and I bought a lovely copper-freestyle coiled necklace with a jade bead. We also went in an out a few more shops but nothing really caught my attention like "The Celtic Cupboard" (items from or related to England/Ireland/Scotland/Wales). See my visiting cuzzykins Cat B wanted to pop in there for a few moments (see her moms british and she lived in London for a while) she decided to get some tea and junkfood (and maybe a few bits and bobs), that I can only assume she can't get outside of the UK. Either than or she wanted to get some things for Mom (my Uncle B's now-Ex).
And oh yes, one last thing got a years paid account for this LJ and am taking advantage of it already
After the necklace I had silently promised myself that I wouldn't get anything else there , but out of curiosity I looked up a few of my familys (on my Dads side) last names on a few products there, after getting no luck with a coat-of-arms hunt I wandered around for a few and decided to get a keychain with a green background with *Ireland* in while letters with a Celtic cross behind it...that is until I saw keychains, with clan names on then (Woo hoo jackpot!) I got lucky with I saw my Paternal Grandmothers maiden name among them (spelled only slightly differently...think Keifer!) along with our family motto
Sans Peur...Translation: Without Fear.
I was surprised that a cat of all things was on it was well, perhaps its a part of the family crest somehow? I have no idea but I like it. We wandered around for a few more moments went into a Dulcimer shop to look for sheet music (Aunt B has one) before heading back to the car where it was parked near an old Civil War cannon and the stocks (damnit YES I had naughty thoughts about that damned thing, but even I won't tell you what they are !) I would have love to get a picture of me and it together (Yes I'm a FREAK) in a weird way to sort or remember the day even better.
Upon discovering , on the way to Aunt B²'s place we saw that we had way too much time left and took a detour to the Davey Crockett Birthplace (yep that's right, Remember the Alamo!) other than the cabin we didn't really see anything of interest other than a sort of monument of states, see each state has its own native stone and I will say my person favorite was Arizona with its turquoise-colored (or was it real) er...plaque.
Man I wish I could've described it better but I'm running low on time and I've had very little sleep these past couple of days, I'll leave out the trip to Aunt B²'s place because man, I rarely have fun with I go over there. Anyway like I said I have to go now, sleep calls and I have to get up to say bye to uncle B and Cat B tomorrow, I only with I could see them more than once a year, as they live out of state.
Oh and one last thing I got a years paid account for this LJ for Christmas, i was going to get it for my main LJ but I decided I love
bijjy more!
Night night.
