The hours ticked by slowly for the entire castle. No one hardly spoke nor
ate. It had been hours since the healer had left the the King's royal
bedchambers. He said that Sir Derek would be fine that he just needed rest
now, but there was no telling when he would awaken. Kay never left his side,
afraid that he might wake up without her there.

Scarlet Lady Kay was sat beside the bed of her unconscious beloved. True time
had passed slowly for all but none so slowly as for her.

From the doorway Prince Louis watched her, and from behind him Lady Jewel
watched all three. She went to Louis and took his hand in hers. He turned
and smiled at her. She kisses his cheek.
"You are really worried, aren't you?" Lady Jewel asked.
"Oui. I just hope he comes back to us soon."
Scarlet Lady looked up from her beloved, finally noticing the Prince and
Jewel. She gave them a strained smile.
"He always keeps his promises, my liege. And he promised to be at your
wedding tomorrow."
"That is true, Scarlet Lady. But how are you?"
"Me? I am fine. You and Jewel should go. You have a wedding to organize."
Jewel quickly stepped forward. "Everything's sorted, thanks to your help
and the help of Sir Derek. We can stay and keep you company for as long as
you need."
"My child, my liege, please, go and enjoy each others company."
"Very well, Scarlet Lady. Come beloved."
As they left, Sir Derek's eyes fluttered open. Scarlet Lady Kay immediately
shouted for them to come before showering kisses on the injured Knight.



(Derek)

Sir Derek: "What...happened...where am I?"
Scarlet Lady Kay: "In the King's and Queen's Royal Bedchambers."
Prince Louis: "Mon ami, how are you feeling?" ::kneels down, and takes his
friends hand.
Sir Derek: "I am all right my Prince, I am just terribly weakened still. I
shall be there tomorrow."
Prince Louis: "I know you will be."
Lady Jewel: "You are brave, Sir Derek. Always have been, always will be.
I did not realize, you have been through so much in your life. Same as me,
in so many words."
Sir Derek: "Thank you, Jewel, I mean, my Lady." ::chuckles::
Lady Jewel: "I forgive you."
Scarlet Lady Kay: "Here, ma chere, allow me to clean your dressing for you.
You were wounded deeply, but, it has stopped bleeding so much."

Sir Derek: "My darling Kay, whatever shall I do without you? Please come to
Egypt with me."
Scarlet Lady Kay: "Now, now, you don't worry about that."
Sir Derek: "No, don't you dare say, you're scandalous. If you say you are,
I shall be forced to make an honest woman out of you, as my...wife."
Prince Louis: "Mon Dieu." :::smiles a very big grin:::
Scarlet Lady Kay: "Well, I, Oh ma chere, I...I will be right back. I will,
find something...to clean this awful wound of yours." ::SL Kay, blushes, as
she hurries out the door:::
Lady Jewel: "Did you mean that, Sir Knight?" ::smiles::
Sir Derek: "With all my heart." ::smiles to himself, and starts chuckling
to himself, aggravating the wound on his side:::
Prince Louis: "Well, perhaps, mon ami, we let you rest for now. I can, well
Jewel and I will postpone this, until you are well, right my love?"
Lady Jewel: "Of course, oh definitely. Can't very well have a wedding
without the best man."
Sir Derek: "No, you do not need to postpone." :::looks away::: "Best man,
my Liege?"
Prince Louis: "Oui, but of course, mon ami. Your dear father, god rest his
soul, was my father's best man, and his best friend. Like you are to me.
Would you be my best man?"
Sir Derek: "Oh my Prince, I would be honored."
Prince Louis: "Good, then it's settled." ::leans over and kisses his
fallen Knight on the forehead. "But for now, Monsieur, get your rest. That
is my command." ::winks::
Sir Derek: "Yes, my Prince. Please tell your father, I am fine. Your
father, is stricken with grief. I could tell. Please tell him, I love him, as
my own second father, and he never need feel the guilt, of my own father,
protecting him to the end."
Prince Louis: "Oui, but of course. He is the Throne room. He may inquire
of you later."
Lady Jewel: "Good night Sir Derek, and we shall see you tomorrow evening.
Rest please."
Sir Derek: "I shall, my lady."
Lady Jewel: "Good." ::leans over and kisses him on forehead::: "And most
of all, thank you for everything."
Sir Derek: "I did that, without orders of any kind, my Lady."
Lady Jewel: "Kind of you, and so generous, good night, Sir Derek."

:::Prince Louis, takes Lady Jewel's hand, and they leave him to rest.
Ten minutes later, Pharoah Khayman comes in. Sir Derek, is asleep. He
removes the dressing, as slowly as to not awaken him. He looks at the
wound, and shakes his head. Suddenly, he withdraws a small dagger, and
slices the palm of his hand open. Pharoah Khayman, unknown to all, even to
King Marius. Just whom and what he was. His blood, so dark it looked
burgundy/black/red. He gently lays his own hand, over the large gaping
wound. Suddenly, the horrible wound, began to heal and close by itself.
Sir Derek felt none of this. As he slept comfortably. Pharoah Khayman,
placed the dressing back on, to hide, his own healing magic.:::

Pharoah Khayman: "You have my attentions, now young man. What you had done
showed much courage. Knowing it could have been your last. I read your
thoughts, and none know that. But, perhaps, I can not handle that guilt, my
good friend Marius, feels. All those horrid memories came flooding back to
him. I should know that feeling. Your father was a good man. Very brave.
Marius loved him, very dear to his heart, like a brother. They were boys
together, like you, and my dearest child Prince Louis. Perhaps now, your
demons can rest. And all will be much surprised to see you are completely
healed come the morrow. Rest well, my youth." ::Pharoah Khayman kneels
down, and kisses Sir Derek on the forehead, and on lips. As he ran a cold
hand down his face.::: "Brave Sir Knight."

it was 9 am when Sir Derek awoke next. Expecting to be in pain when he tried
to get up, he was very pleasantly surprised when he could feel no pain
whatsoever where the gash was, so he decided to take a peek at it. To his
shock there was no evidence of where the Magnus's sword had caught him just
yesterday. "Surely there must be an explanation for this." he thought.

While he was pondering what must have happened, he thought he might as well
get dressed. As soon as he was, he decided that he should check on Prince
Louis and Lady Jewel But he'd decided to go check on Louis first since his
room was the closest. He open the door just slightly and what he saw gave him
a pleasant surprise. Louis and Jewel had fallen asleep in a chaise in front
of the fireplace. He smiled to himself then he silently shut the door again.

Then he turned around and decided to go check on his beloved, he didn't have
to go far because she had ran in to him as they were both rounding the
corner. When she saw who she had bumped into she immediately, she hugged him
as tightly as she could without fear of harming him further, when they
parted S.L. Kay realized something:



SL Kay: What are you doing up , you should still be recovering?!
Sir Derek: It seems that I am. When i woke up I felt no pain
and when I looked the wound was gone.
SL Kay: Gone, how??
Sir Derek: If I had any idea I would gladly tell you, but it's a
complete mystery to me as well as you. Now tell me why
you were in such a rush that you didn't see where you were
going.
SL Kay: Well, I was on the way to Jewel's room. since I thought you'd
be sleeping for most of the day, I'd thought I would check
on her.
Sir Derek: Well you won't find her in her room.
SL Kay: Why not? Where is she??
Sir Derek: Apparently she and the Prince fell asleep in front of his
fireplace last night. Asleep on his shoulder last I saw.
Would you like to see?
Kay couldn't keep the grin off her face.
Sir Derek: I'll take that as a yes.

With that he took her by the hand and lead her to the Prince's door. In
which they opened and peeped through. What they saw was just as Derek had
said before only now they saw Jewel starting to wake up. With that Kay
tiptoed in quietly with Sir Derek right behind. Since it was bad luck for
the bride to see the groom before the wedding. Scarlet Lady Kay gently
removed the prince's arm from around Jewel's shoulders and Derek gently
picked her up very carefully as to not wake Louis or his bride.

They were out the door very quickly yet silently and then shut it. Jewel
not noticing her pillow had changed, snuggled into Sir Derek's shoulder,
forcing Kay to stifle a giggle. Luckily her room wasn't too far from the
Louis' so he didn't have far to walk, even though his arm was healed it was
still a little sore. As soon as he put her onto her bed , he quietly tiptoed
back out the door.


SL Kay: They're very attached to each other aren't they??
Sir Derek: Very. I though we'd have to get a crowbar in order to pry
those two apart.
SL Kay: Come beloved I think it's time we told the King about what
happened.

At that they went off arm in arm to find the King.

As they walked into the throne room Sir Derek couldn't help but wonder how
his side had healed so quickly. All he remembered was a cold sensation on his
skin. He soon forget this however once he entered the presence of his King
and Queen.
Both Sir Derek and SL Kay bowed to them. The King seemed over joyed to see
them.
"Sir Knight! Scarlet Lady!"
"My King."
"Your Highness."
"Well I am extremely happy to see you up and about of course, my Knight, but
why have you come to see me?"
"My liege, we came to tell you that we have just put the Lady Jewel in her
room after spending the night it seems sleeping on my Prince's shoulder."Sir
Derek explained.
"Sir Derek and I thought we may have to use a crowbar to separate them,
sire." The Scarlet Lady said. King Marius and Queen Pandora both laughed.
After this Sir Derek and The King spoke more about his remarkable recovery.
Queen Pandora however led the Scarlet Lady over to one side.
"Now my dear," she said pleasantly "my son has told me of you and Sir
Derek."
"Your highness?"
"He has told me that our honorable knight as much as asked you to marry him?
This is right?"
"Yes, highness."
"And have you answered him?"
"I...no you highness."
"What is the matter child?"
The Scarlet Lady hesitated. How could she tell her Queen that she had been
alone her whole life? That now she was so afraid of losing her beloved? That
she did not want to risk it?
"I...I..Do not want to bring him dishonor, majesty."
"Why would you do that? You have more honor in your little finger than most
of the ladies at court have in their entire bodies. And you do love him do
you not?"
"Yes highness."
"Then answer him."
Just then Sir Derek prepared to leave.
"Tomorrow highness"
The Scarlet Lady Quickly joined her beloved and together they both left.
Queen Pandora sighed and shook her head. Tomorrow seldom came....

in the corridor:
"Now that we have done that" Sir Derek said "How about you teach me how to
just look at things?"
SL Kay looked at him and smiled. Her brave knight, been through so much, and
yet already looking for something new.
"Very well chere. Come I know the perfect place."
The Scarlet Lady led Sir Derek out to a nearby balcony. Together they sat for
the next two hours, SL Kay trying to teach Sir Derek how to just look.
Eventually she gave up and the sat talking about anything that came into
their minds.


(Three hours later)

Prince Louis woke up with a start when he noticed that Jewel wasn't there
anymore. At first he panicked until a voice spoke up.


Queen Pandora: Don't worry son, she's still here she's just in her
room .
Prince Louis: Thank good ness, for a moment there i was beginning to
think this had all been a dream. (Then something occurred
to him)How Is Derek, is he awake yet??
Queen Pandora: Yes , he's been awake since dawn. Me and your father
were very surprised to see him up and about. When he had
told us that he had awakened with no pain where that
beast Magnus' had stabbed him, and that not even a
scratch remained when he examined it. In fact he felt so much
better that he decided to check in on you this morning.
Prince Louis: Well i am amazed at how quickly he healed, does he have
any ideas how it happened?
Queen Pandora: Not a one. But on the lighter side of things, He said
he'd need a crowbar to pry you and Jewel apart.(she
said with a smirk on her face, Louis' face turned bright
red)

Then there was a knock at the door and the door slowly creped open and Sir
Derek peeped his head in.


Sir Derek: May I come in your highness?
Prince Louis: Of course my friend, you should know by now that my door
is always open to you.
Queen Pandora: I shall leave you two to your thoughts and I shall see
you later my dear.(kisses Louis on the cheek)
Sir Derek: "Of course, thank you your Highness." he said as he bowed to her,
and with that she left.
Prince Louis: So Derek what have you been doing with yourself since
you've been awake?
Sir Derek: Nothing.
Prince Louis: Nothing?
Sir Derek: Except for thinking about things.
Prince Louis: What things?
Sir Derek: All sorts of things, you, the Lady Jewel , the De
Lioncourts, Kay......(he then got a goofy look on his face)
Prince Louis: Ah so she is the reason behind your thinking and that
smile on your face, has she given you an answer yet?
Sir Derek: No, not yet.
Prince Louis: Well I wouldn't worry about it too much, I can see it in
her eyes, how much she loves you. So no need to be
nervous.
Sir Derek: Listen to yourself, your the one getting married later
today, and you call me nervous?


At this comment neither the prince nor the knight could keep from laughing.


Meanwhile just a few doors away....


SL Kay gently shook Jewel awake. "Wake up sleepyhead you have a wedding to
get ready for."


Jewel: Ten more minutes please Gabrielle, then I'll wake up and make
breakfast." (she rolled over to go back to sleep)

Kay frowned at the use of Gabrielle's name, then shook Jewel gently again
"It's not Gabrielle ma chere, it's me Kay. It's time to wake up. And you
have a wedding to get ready for.


At this she bolted upright in bed now fully awake and jumped off the bed,
and headed for the door. Which Kay got to just in time:


SL Kay: Now where do you think you're going?
Jewel: To see Louis, to make sure this wasn't all a dream.
SL Kay Well I can assure you right here and now it wasn't a dream

(she said as she was gently guiding Jewel away from the door)
SL Kay: Don't you know it is bad luck for the bride to see the groom
before the wedding, why else would you have been moved from the
Prince's side. Incedently you thought Derek made a good pillow
while he was moving you into your room. But not to worry chere
we both knew you thought he was Louis.

At the mention of that Jewel turned five shades pinker that she was before.

SL Kay: Now lets get you ready for the wedding.

She said as she peeked through the door to make sure The prince was nowhere
in sight, then took Jewel by the hand to took her to the gown makers. They
had a lot to do in the next six hours. And it was going to be a VERY long 6
hours.
