It better post this time... grrr
Jun. 9th, 2010 10:02 pmIs it terribly dorky of me that I bought "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner" just so I could prep myself for
cleolinda's recap? 'Cause I totally did. And I can easily say that I like Bree a hell of a lot more than little miss Bella "I'm so perfect it's annoying." Swan (which by the way, Ew!) Also, Fred and Diego are equally awesome. In fact I kinda took this story as a bit like a "Take that" from SMeyer to fans of real vampires. I mean I could have read it online but I didn't have the patience to wait.
(The one thing that really burns my blood about the book is that $1 went to charity, just $1. Unlike Ms. Rowling's post-series book "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" who'd proceeds, that book went entirely to charity, not just a small percentage (correct me if I'm wrong, Google is being an ass). As for the Potter school books 20% was donated per book, which I believe was a bit for than just $1!, I may be mistaken as I can't find a price for either book (when not sold as a set). I did buy 3 sets of copies, as I kept on losing them...oops. But I eventually bought a lovely hardcover set.
At Wal-Mart though for the paperback versions there were about $6 per book. (which Wal-Mart is always about what 10% to 20% off all books, can't recall which, so it was more than that. (Damnit this entry would've been done ages ago had Google cooperated, Grrrr) I feel if SMeyer were really all that charitable and not doing it for the money (which there's many like me who feel likewise)then she would donate a bigger chuck if not all of the proceeds to the Red Cross) Again that's just my opnion.
I have nothing against any of the actors in the (Twilight) movies (but the author? *shudder*), in fact I adore them and feel so sorry for them that they have the most ridiculous fans ever! Even more so than the modern day Anne Rice Fans (she used to be one of my favorite authors and then she cranked out crap like Memnoch the Devil and didn't stop until Blackwood Farm (in which Lestat becomes the opposite of everything he ever stood against, IMO)
