from Michael Shank's official site
This just in from Michael:
"Just landed a role in a new feature called Red Riding Hood directed by Catherine Hardwicke, and starring Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman and Julie Christie. Will play a character named Adrien Lazar, local affluent blacksmith and father of Henri Lazar (love interest to Amanda's character). Rehearsals begin in July, and filming starts July 22nd."
According to IMDB, the film is being produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and Leonardo DiCaprio through his production company, Appian Way. The screenplay has been written by David Leslie Johnson (Orphan) and is, according to a number of film websites, a gothic re-telling of the Charles Perrault fairytale - later re-told by the Brothers Grimm - Little Red Riding Hood.
Discussing the film, in an interview with Screen Daily, the film's director, Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Thirteen), stated:
"Leonardo has this idea of a reinvention of the fairytale. I read the first draft by David Leslie Johnson and loved it. I've worked for about five months with him and then a second writer, Rand Ravich, and now we?re back with David. We're making it a wild thriller in this great Gothic fairytale world, very sexy, romantic and scary. I get to create a whole world."
Michael's co-star Amanda Seyfried (Letters To Juliet, Mamma Mia!) is playing the film's lead role, with Gary Oldman (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, The Fifth Element) reported by Screen Rant to be playing "the Witchfinder General whose job it is to hunt down the monster antagonist". Julie Christie (Finding Neverland, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Dragonheart, Doctor Zhivago) is set to play "Red's Grandmother, who apparently likes to knit with silver needles."
Also listed in the cast are Max Irons, son of Jeremy Irons, playing the role of Henri Lazar (the son of Michael's character) and Shiloh Fernandez, playing the role of an orphaned woodcutter for whom Seyfried's character falls.

With cameras rolling in Vancouver, British Columbia in July, the film is currently scheduled for release in April 2011.

May this be the first ( second? or is it third?) in a very long line if film roles for our beloved "Dr. Jackson"
