Ever had one of those Friday the 13th's?

I have and a great part of the time I've been with mom...dating all the way back to second grade (car accident in a Howard's parking lot ..of all places.)

This most recent one was going pretty well until Mom got a phone call shorty before 5 or 6 pm. It turns out, that the mole my mom had removed on her neck (she's had for a fair few years now, until recently). Well, she had to have it removed, because all of a sudden for no reason neither of us could fathom it began to grow quickly. Thankfully mom decided to move up her Doctor's appointment and have it removed while she was there.

It was a good thing she did.

As with all removals of things like this they sent it off for a biopsy. It turned out to be cancer, thankfully not the bad kind. Mom goes in again on Friday to make sure they got it all. Me, Mom and Dad (who was visiting here when she got the call) all started to reason than most likely with something like that, with it growing as quickly as it did that it was probably more than likely that they had gotten all of it during Mom's Doctor visit.

I probably won't start breathing again until after Mom's Doc visit this upcoming Friday.

Mom however, being the studious and busy little beaver that she is (once she's has interest in a certain subject) looked into her medical symptom books ( I dunno why she has them she's not a Doctor herself) and found out that being exposed to X-rays over a period of time can cause the type of cancer that the mole contained.

It just so happens that a short while before that Doctor's appointment that Mom went for her Mammogram. Due to the new procedures they have have in place for patients that once had cancer (yes Mom had breast cancer 7 or 8 years ago but got the very small lump removed and had radiation therapy ) have 4 or 5 mammograms practically in a row.

Now mom didn't know about this that day and she was scared to death when they kept doing the mammogram over and over again. Anyway thanks to this incident that it was more than likely the reason why that mole starting growing as fast as it did. We're pretty sure that this is over with now. Mom's going to the Doctor next Friday just to make sure that it didn't spread

So yeah on pins and needles until Mom (hopefully) gets the all clear on the 20th.
