Part 13

"Head over feet" Part 13
Disclaimer: Jo owns all.
Pairing(s) Cedric/Harry
Also a note for this fic; Dumbledore was late to the quidditch match and arrived just in time to see both Harry and Cedric fall the last few feet before he could cast the "Aresto Momentum", so that it's a slight AU. Also if I've been misspelling McGonagalls last name all this time forgive me, I'm too lazy to look it up. Also as you may have noticed I'm skimming a bit though PoA, though its not like nobody else knows what happens in those books/movies heh.

Also a great big thank you note to everyone who reviews. It really makes me feel uber-appreciated!

The reason Part 12 was so sweet and gooey is because I received a review on FF.N curious for the reason exactly why Cedric likes Harry. So I wrote part 12 as a response to it (even though I've only posted the first 9 parts on FF.N nothing else as of yet. I want to get a big further along here before I post anything else there)

And now on to Part 13
*~*~*

They woke early Christmas morning before dawn. He didn't want Harry to get into trouble because he had insisted he stayed last night. Harry took all the shortcuts he knew to head back to Gryffindor tower, careful not to run into McGonnagall who would no doubt question what they were up to. They sleepily trudged their way to Gryffindor tower without being spotted. "Now up to bed with you." Cedric smiled, "Before the others notice you're missing." He gently pushed Harry towards the painting of Sir Cadogan. They said their 'good nights' to each other even though it was was early morning, Cedric gently kissed Harrys forehead sleepily "I'll see you a little later love." Harry smiled "Right then, come by whenever you want. I know it must be lonely in your common room all by yourself." Cedric nodded " I'll plan on it then. See you later then Harry. Sweet dreams." Cedric had almost turned around when Harry caught him by the arm and kissed him softly, Harry smiled up at him after he broke the kiss. "Now I will."

Cedric looked a little stunned but returned the smile. "So will I now." Harry gave Sir Cadogan the password (Scurvy cur!") and went inside. Cedric however, he walked all the way back to common room as if floating on Cloud 9.

The Holidays passed swiftly at Hogwarts, for the simple fact no one had wanted them to end. Cedric spent all of Christmas Day with Harry, no one seemed to mind that they were practically glued at the hands, (or lips for that matter) these days. During these days Harry had received a Firebolt for Christmas, everyone was beyond shock, almost immediately the Weasley were all pleading with Harry to go for a ride on it, even Cedric wanted a turn on it. But the happiness of such a gift, was almost immediately confiscate by McGonagall. She had only said having such present, not knowing who it was from was too dangerous and would have to be stripped to test it for jinxes.

By the time the holidays had ended Cedric and Harry didn't see each other as much as they liked, they saw each other occasionally in the halls between classes. Sometimes he went with Harry to his Patronus lessons, curious about them. Lupin told Cedric to stay back or else the boggart would turn on him and use his fear instead. He was horrified to see that the boggart had the same effect on Harry as a real dementor, but staying close by his side regardless once the boggart was banished back to the chest Lupin kept it in. Cedric walked Harry back to the tower after his sessions with Lupin. Listening to Harry as he told him just what exactly what he heard as a dementor (Or a boggart) got even relatively close to Harry. Cedric couldn't imagine that hearing his mother screaming begging to save his life, he was hoping it would never happen, he loved his parents too much to ever let anything ever happen to them (despite his occasional arguments with his father).

To take some of the worries off of his mind he asked about Ron and Hermione's argument about Scabbers and coming up with random theories as to why Crookshanks would want to eat Scabbers so badly. And then thee was the quidditch practices which , thanks to Wood, deprived Cedric of any more time with Harry. But he understood both Harrys and Olivers love for the game was equal to his own.

Sometimes he would go down to the pitch to watch them, which Wood got shirty with his about, thinking Cedric was just there to scope out the competition, which wasn't true as Hufflepuff and Gryffindor didn't face each other again this year. But eventually Harry got his Firebolt back from Professor McGonagall a few days before the Gryffindor/Ravenclaw match the upcoming Saturday. Harry had let Ron have a go on it of course after the Friday practice.

When Harry came down to breakfast before the match a flock of people herded over to the Gryffindor table where the Firebolt had its own place of Honor. Cedric put on an act of congratulating Harry for such a fine replacement for his Nimbus, as if he didn't know already He grinned inwardly the look on Malfoy's face when he saw Harry's new broom was priceless. But he stuck around the Gryffindor tale when he saw that Malfoy was coming towards it. He wanted to tell Malfoy to go back to his table but said nothing and listened to Harrys and Malfoy's brief conversation. Draco's tone was full of venom and jealously.

"Sure you can manage that broom, Potter?"
"Yeah, reckon so."
"Got plenty of special features, hasn't it? Shame it doesn't come with a parachute -- in case you get too near a dementor."
"Pity you can't attach an extra arm to your, Malfoy. Then it could catch the snitch for you."

The Gryffindor table roared with laughter even Cedric couldn't help himself and joined in with them as Malfoy stormed off.

"Watch yourself Diggory or else your father will get a rather interesting letter from my father concerning you latest.... catch." He remarked snidely as he stressed the word 'catch' when a twinge of realization crossed Cedric's face. Malfoy smirked and turned on his heel to head back to the Slytherin table. Fortunately Harry hadn't caught that as he'd been laughing with Fred and George.

About a half hour before Harry went to the change for the match Cedric pulled him into an empty classroom to wish him "good luck'. "Don't worry about anything out there except the match." Cedric told him s he gently wrapped his arms around Harry's waist "Dumbledore has made certain the dementors don't interrupt another match. You'll do fine." Harry wasn't sure who exactly Cedric was trying to convince as he seemed about more nervous about the dementors than Harry was.

"Cedric ." Harry laughed "You relax, I've got everything under control. Nothing will happen this time, I hope." To melt away any doubts they had about Harry's upcoming match Cedric kissed him deeply, almost crushing Harry up against the taller boy so hard that his feet barely touched the floor now. Harry ran his fingers though Cedrics hair wishing that right this second that he didn't have a quidditch game to get to get ready for. The kiss was the by far the deepest, most passionate one they'd had so far. The nervousness about the match and the possible threat of dementors, seemed to be fueling it somehow. Cedric hadn't even realized until Harry was pinned against the stone wall of the empty classroom his arms roaming all over the younger boys back and was starting to head further south. Cedric caught himself just in time, when he realized what was happening. He stopped himself realizing that Harry ad to go soon, and also before he did something neither of them were ready for just yet.

"Good luck Harry." Cedric murmured before he let him go, giving him a brief kiss for luck before he shooed his off to the Gryffindor teams changing room. As Cedric emerged from the classroom and watched Harry head off. He smiled as he made his way to the quidditch arena, thinking about how hard he'd fallen for Harry. Fallen head over feet. Falling , hell, it felt like he was flying. He smiled remembering that kiss.

Talk about flying!
